Collection: The Art of Gesture & Ritual

The Korean tea ceremony, dado (다도), relies as much on gestures as on the quality of the leaves. A good chasen (bamboo whisk), a suitable chawan (matcha bowl), a ceramic teapot that retains heat: every accessory contributes to the complete sensory experience. Maison Boseong has selected the essential tools of the Korean ritual, sourced directly in South Korea.

Our collection covers the needs of the matcha ceremony, with chasen, chashaku (bamboo scoop) and chawan, as well as artisanal ceramic teapots and cups for preparing loose-leaf green teas. Each piece is chosen for its balance between functionality and Korean minimalist aesthetics.

Frequently Asked Questions

What equipment do you need to start the matcha ceremony?
The bare minimum to prepare a ceremonial matcha is a chawan bowl, a chasen whisk and a chashaku scoop. These three elements make up the basic set. If you want to sift your powder (recommended to avoid lumps), a fine sieve is a useful fourth accessory. Our Ritual Matcha Set gathers these essentials.
How to care for a bamboo chasen (matcha whisk)?
After each use, rinse the chasen with clear water, without soap. Never leave it to soak. Air dry it, preferably on a chasen-naoshi stand (dome shaped) to keep the curve of the tines. Avoid the dishwasher. With regular care, a good chasen lasts several months of daily use.
Are the ceramics dishwasher safe?
Most Korean artisanal ceramics in our collection are recommended for hand washing to preserve their glaze. Some industrial pieces tolerate the dishwasher: check the instructions on each product page. When in doubt, hand washing with lukewarm water is always the safest method.
