Travel to the origins of Korean tea with this Ujeon grand cru. This green tea does not come from classic, aligned plantations, but from wild tea trees (야생차) that grow freely and naturally on the steep slopes of the sacred Mount Jirisan, in the Hadong region.
Grown and hand-harvested by the Jirisan Farmers Village cooperative, this tea pays tribute to history: it was exactly here, in the year 828, that tea was first introduced to South Korea.
The Wild Character: Growing in a natural ecosystem without chemical intervention, surrounded by forests and rocks, this tea draws a unique character from the mountain soil.
The Taste Experience: The wild Ujeon stands out for its vibrant, lively character. In the mouth it offers a fresh, deep vegetal attack, followed by subtle mineral notes, a creamy umami and a soft, lingering finish.
An Artisanal Craft: After the meticulous harvest of the first spring buds, the leaves are roasted in a cauldron following the traditional Korean method (Gamasot) to stop oxidation.
The Tasting Ritual: Steep 2 to 3 grams of leaves in simmering water (between 60°C and 70°C) for 2 minutes. This generous grand cru can be re-infused 3 to 4 times.
