Wild Grand Cru Ujeon Green Tea from Hadong — Jirisan Farmers Village
The soul of the Korean mountains. An exceptional first-flush green tea, harvested from ancient wild tea trees.
Journey to the origins of Korean tea with this Ujeon grand cru (the "pre-rain" first harvest). This green tea does not come from standard, manicured plantations, but from wild tea trees (야생차) that grow freely and naturally on the steep slopes of the sacred Mount Jirisan in the Hadong region.
Cultivated and hand-harvested by the Jirisan Farmers Village cooperative, this tea pays homage to history: it was exactly here, in the year 828, that tea was first introduced to South Korea.
The "Wild" Character
Thriving in a natural ecosystem without chemical intervention, surrounded by forests and ancient rocks, these trees draw unique nutrients from the mountain soil. The result is leaves of absolute purity and profound aromatic richness.
The Tasting Experience
Wild Ujeon is distinguished by its vibrant energy and crystalline liquor. On the palate, it offers a deep, fresh vegetal opening, followed by subtle mineral notes, a creamy umami, and a lingering sweet finish, entirely free of astringency.
Artisanal Savoir-Faire
Following the meticulous harvest of the first spring buds, the leaves are roasted in a traditional Korean cauldron (Gamasot) to halt oxidation and enhance their signature nutty aromas.
Tasting Ritual
1.Measurement: Use 2 to 3 grams of leaves.
2.Temperature: Infuse in hot water cooled to between 60°C and 70°C (never use boiling water!).
3.Infusion: Steep for 2 minutes.
4.Generosity: This generous grand cru can be re-steeped 3 to 4 times, revealing new nuances with each successive pour.
