Spring Awakening in the Mountains of Hadong
Sejak is a treasure of Korean tradition. Hand-picked in late April in the prestigious region of Hadong, this high-altitude green tea strikes the perfect balance between freshness and depth. The house of Ssangye carries on a centuries-old craft here.
Natural Cultivation: Grown on the unspoiled slopes of the Jirisan massif. The tea plants of Hadong often grow in a semi-wild state, without chemical intervention, which gives this tea a mineral character and a rare aromatic complexity.
Aromatic Profile: Luminous pale green liquor with the vegetal notes of young spring shoots. Natural umami sweetness with a slightly nutty, refreshing finish.
Roasting Method: The traditional Deokkeum method, hand-roasting in a cast-iron wok, brings a unique roundness and toasty notes that set this Sejak apart from Japanese green teas.

What is the difference between Sejak and Ujeon?
Sejak is harvested a little later than Ujeon, usually in late April, which gives it a more assertive profile while remaining delicate. Ujeon, picked before the Gogu rains in mid-April, is the youngest and softest grade.
Does this Korean green tea contain caffeine?
Yes, like any green tea from Camellia sinensis, Sejak contains caffeine, in a moderate amount thanks to the low recommended brewing temperature.
How many times can the leaves be re-steeped?
This whole-leaf Sejak withstands up to 3 successive infusions, each revealing a different aromatic nuance.
How should I store this tea after opening?
Keep it in an airtight container, away from light and humidity, and out of the refrigerator.
Why use water at only 65 to 70°C?
Water that is too hot scorches the young leaves and releases bitterness. At a low temperature, the umami and natural sweetness of Sejak are preserved.
